Elise McArdle (Mere of Light) is a sound artist and writer based in New Orleans.
In 2020, Elise earned her MA in Critical Theory at the University of North Dakota.
Elise's work is inspired by new age music, folktales, liminality, grief, and community theater.
As Mere of Light, Elise has released two harp and synthesizer EPs, Haptica and Fell Tales, along with two music videos.
As a member of Milwaukee shoegaze band Cream Vellum, she released EP Venus Rx Rx and album Whip Lush. She also scored the film Pet World (Grace Mitchell and Sofia Theodore Pierce, 2022).
In 2021, Elise co-founded the Out There Series an experimental music series that takes place in city and state parks.
Elise also runs shows at all-ages venues Alien Cathouse and the Jazz Gallery Center for the Arts.
